HOW YOU CAN HELP US
In 2016, to ensure that the Village Hall was fit for purpose and to provide a safe, welcoming and sustainable facility for the next generation, the Committee embarked on a major refurbishment of the Village Hall in two phases.
Phase 1 was to remove all the asbestos on the main roof, the kitchen and store room roofs, the porch, boiler room and external cladding. This was all safely and professionally removed and replaced with more environmentally safe materials by mid 2017.
Phase 2 was to then replace the front and fire doors, improve the toilet facilities, change the lighting to LED, address the disabled access, replace the kitchen crockery/cookware and decorate throughout. These improvements were completed by early 2018 and to date the only two outstanding projects remaining are the replacement of the main hall floor and the curtains.
All this work could not have been achieved without local support and the many fundraising efforts which have included a cook book, quilt, craft and table top fairs, quiz night, table tennis marathon and sponsored walk. In addition there has been the “buy a tile-raise a smile” campaign and other individual donations.
But we are indebted also to the following organisations that have generously given their financial support:
Dudgeon Wind Farm
Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation
The Rank Foundation
Weybourne Community Fund
Weybourne Parish Council
Love Norfolk Fund Foundation
National Lottery Awards for All
We are hoping to increase the skills of the Committee by recruiting volunteers who live locally and who can give between 2 and 4 hours a month to support the Village Hall.
Skills we currently wish to recruit are:
- PR and Marketing
- Building Maintenance
Fundraising Events and Donations
We are keen to work with the local community in raising funds to keep the hall in the best condition we can. Additionally there are also many new facilities that we would like to offer should the funds become available.
- If you would like to help support the hall through a sponsored event, table top sale, or other fundraising project, please contact us via email at WVHMC1@gmail.com
- We are always pleased to receive unwanted gifts for use in our raffles
- Cash donations can be made via MyDonate.
